My birthday this year fell on the Chinese New Year, February 10, 2013 year of Water Snake.

This sticky rice-cake is considered a good luck to eat "nian-gao" means "higher-year" during this season which symbolizes raising oneself each year :-). This also imply promotions or prosperity year after year, and this makes a popular gift during this season.
